Good-day to you!  My name is Helen Lessley.  I live in Columbia, South Carolina. I enjoy history and music, so my dogs have musical names, and my website has an 18th Century theme.  I breed Toy Shelties and Rough Collies.  I breed Toy Shelties as I enjoy having a very small herding dog.  These little treasures are small enough to hold, put in bike baskets, take places, and travel with.  They also are trainable, outstanding agility dogs, and can go on hikes with energy to spare, they can herd, and they can play constantly.  I train all of my dogs in agility, and draught work no matter their size.  Although my shelties are small, they have a strong working/herding instinct and they enjoy work with a purpose.  Therefore, I prefer to place most of my pups in performance homes.  I do sell most of my pups with full registration, so breeders are welcome to apply.

As I previously mentioned I also have Rough Collies.  I fell in love with the collies breeds after reading the collie books by Albert Payson Terhune.  The Rough Collies are the sweetest gentlest souls that I know.  They are very devoted to their family.  They are also highly intelligent.  I train my collies in basic obedience and advanced draught work.  Draughting is were the dog pulls a load.  I usually have my collies hitched to a sulky and working as driving dogs.  However they also help with the yard work and haul verious other loads.  I do not know what I would do without them.  Needless to say they enjoy draughting, with driving as their favorite.  My collies do well in many types of homes, however they do not make good "yard dogs".  They enjoy working, and they need homes were they will be given work to do.  Draught work is best.

I keep all of my dogs as housedogs.  I take them to agility trials and social outings.  I feed Fromm Four-Star as it is a high quality human-grade food.  I enjoy 18th century reenactments, and history in general, so I take my dogs to various such activities.

All of my dogs are registered with AKC.  My collies are registered as Rough Collies, however I must register my Toy Shelties as Shetland Sheepdogs so that I can continue to compete in AKC performance sports.
